Being an Illegal Female Immigrant

Being an Illegal Female Immigrant

This assignment was very personal and important to me, it not only has to do with my experiences growing up here but more importantly what my mother went through the past 14 years providing for me. It became one of those assignments that I had to give my all to do her justice, to show how hard every single immigrant mother worked. I felt that I really got my point across and taught my fellow classmates the best I could on the subject, especially by including my mother’s story. What made me finally decide on a topic was when I came across the video of the child not recognizing his own mother and trying to get away. Everyone spoke of the children, and of course that’s important but all I could think of was the mom and how painful it must have been for her.

With everything going on in America today, especially with President Donald Trump causing so much trauma in all those children, I knew it was going to be a sensitive topic and I wasn’t sure how exactly my mother was going to take it. I knew it brought back a lot of memories from when I was little, all the late nights, all the sick days, all the back pains and migraines. I always knew she was strong but hearing the stories really opened my eyes more and had me thinking how she wasn’t the only one. It all paid off though, and just a week before Christmas of 2018 she got the amazing news that she would be receiving her residency soon.
