Peruvian Green Pasta
For my vlog I chose to my Mom’s Peruvian Green Pasta, or “Pasta Verde” as we usually call it. It’s a very common dish in Peruvian household’s and restaurants. Growing up I always knew there were a lot of greens involved in the making of it, I thought it was more spinach than anything else so I hoped to grow up big and strong because of it. What I did not expect, which I hadn’t found out until if first helped out in the making of this dish, was that it involved more 3 times more basil than spinach. The most shocking thing though- there was feta cheese in it! Of all the things that gave it such a good taste, any type of cheese -let alone feta- was not what I expected. If I had known when I was younger I definitely wouldn’t of eaten it for a while, I was quite the picky child, but not that I’m older i don’t question it- just eat it. The last thing i definitely didn’t expect was that all the ingredients get blended together to make the sauce.
I’m not sure entirely how far back this video goes in our family history-my mom’s side specifically since my Dad is Venezuelan. I know all of my Aunt’s make it and my Mom’s family does as well back in Peru and that it is one of the many custom Peruvian meals offered in many Peruvian Restaurants. I have to admit though, the longest part in this recipe is cleaning the leaves. It requires a lot of patience but its worth it to get rid of all the salt and dirt that is still on the leaves, which is a lot. It’s still one of my favorite meals, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
